And that's The End

And here we are, at the end. Joey has gone from a moderate to severe assymetrical measurements of 15mm, 15mm, and 17mm assymetry to 4mm, 5mm and 6mm assymetry which falls in the mild catagory. Here are his before and after pictures. The pictures on the left are what he looked like 1 month before the band and the pictures on the right are what he looked like 1½ wks after the band.

the Final Band of the Week-11/5/07

After his themed birthday party, the weekend before his birthday we switched to a simple birthday sticker band. We had plans for a few more but he graduated the day after his birthday so his band sits on his "headsicle" dressed for his birthday.

As we finish

I have to share his band in action, here he is all dressed up for Halloween, the reason for the Steelers band and, of course, his accompanying cheer squad.

band of the week-October 15

Go Steelers! Happy Halloween!

There won't be a band of the week for a while now. This is his Halloween helmet and will be wearing it for his football costume and for his football themed birthday party. After that we will go back to the band of the week.

This is 3 coats of black acrylic paint. I used Creamcoat brand this time and got much better coverage. Over that is a layer of Mod Podge. The yellow stripes are printed from the computer on Avery Sticker Paper I would recommend the clear, I used the regular and it didnt stick well. The side sticker is an NFL collection from the party section of Wal Mart, all the others I could find were too big. This one seems dwarfed though so if the stripes hold up I may print out a bigger one myself. Over the stickers are 2 layers of Mod Podge, the edges of the stripes were peeling up taking the paint with them so have more mod podge there.

band of the week-October 8

Camouflage

A more successfull try at decoupage. This time I used a napkin (couldn't find camo tissue locally) instead of tissue paper. I carefully did small sections at a time and I didn't obsess as much about wrinkles (trying to smooth them too much ripped and smudged the paper last time). I also cut along the edge with scissors after the top layer of mod podge and then applied another layer and smoothed the edges out. For those not familiar with decoupage, an item such as a paper or cloth is applied using mod podge (similiar to white glue, available at any craft store, walmart, etc) and then another layer is applied on top to protect it. Decoupage was used with blue tissue paper to cover the whole thing in a disaster I didn't keep weeks ago. It was used again with wrapping paper to do the large Sesame Street characters in a previous band of the week, and then this week for the whole thing. When doing large scale like this you have the same issue as with large stickers, the curve of the band wrinkles and does not allow them to go down smooth. You have to just work with that or stick to small scale. I will be decoupaging again with John Deere fabric.

Band of the Week-September 10

All ready for Sesame Street Live. I had to run to the music store and was a bit too lazy to run to the other side of town to get some stickers so I tried running into the neighboring Kmart. All they had were the small stickers you see and of course they were paper stickers. But then we saw Sesame Street wrapping paper. So the large Elmo, Cookie Monster, Big Bird and Oscar are wrapping paper applied using Mod Podge. The smaller stickers are paper stickers and the letters are thick cardstock stickers, I also put a layer of mod podge under all these hoping it would help with removal. However with the Mod Podge under the paper stickers didn't stick well and the cardstock did even worse. So the entire thing has a layer of Mod Podge over it. This has really helped keep the stickers from peeling up. For the most part, I have been able to try and avoid the outside with Alcohol though I did have to spot clean some parts last night.

Coming Soon! Ready for our trip to the zoo and soccer season.

Band of the Week-September 4

Take 2 at painting. Last time I did 2 coats of paint followed by 1 coat of modge podge. It was chipping by the next morning and the stickers were pealing and taking the paint with it after only a couple days. This time I tried the tissue paper decoupage someone said was easier but it was just a giant mess so I pealed it off without even finishing. So this time I tried more protectant. 2 coats of paint followed by 2 coats of mod podge, d fish stickers and then 1 more coat of mod podge. The coat over the stickers wasn't planned as the paint wasn't pealing but the stickers were so I added it. This time too much mod podge. When I cleaned it with the alcohol it got sticky and the 3rd day of cleaning paint started coming off so I pealed it last night and we are back to white. The more layers though did hold up better, very few chips. But there is no way to avoid the outside with the alcohol while cleaning the inside. So maybe 2 coats is perfect? Not sure if we will attempt paint again. We go to see Sesame Street Live on Sunday so look for Elmo stickers update soon (gotta go buy them).

He is getting less cooperative for these so it is harder to see

Band of the week-August 27

We're liking the wheels so here are some more wheels, monster wheels.

2nd Band of this Week-August 20

Well the paint didn't last very long. Turns out those stickers were paper stickers and they
started to peel quickly which was taking the paint too though it was already chipping anyway. So now we are wheeling it.

Band of the Week; August 13

It was topping well over 100 degrees all last week. Not good weather for a cranial band. Especially being fitting on the hottest day in history. But it is a good week to do the beach theme.

Start of Treatment; August 13

Forgot to take his picture last week, so here we are 3 days into treatment, a week late for the monthly picture
